Here's one reason. That happened on both shoes, same exact toe. Shoe Goo works great for a week or so, then I just wear through that, too. I've only had these since February. Apparently, I tend to put a lot of pressure on that toe. YA THINK?I love 'em. I'll always own a pair. I ran the damn Warrior Dash in these bad boys. And I patched them right back up and will keep wearing them until they fall apart. And then I will buy new ones.
But, for right now, I'mma give these'uns a go. Put their first 4 miles on them this morning. Which was already a bit awkward because I am using a different set of ear phones than I normally use because.... well.... I wear those out pretty quick, too. Between my job and running, I'm surprised I don't get chronic ear infections. My spiffy NB's are great! Still with the barefoot feel to them, although not as much as the VFFs, but the running gait is the very same. I didn't have to make any adjustments there. I got them in a size 3, but probably could have gone to a size 2.5. They are definitely keepers, though.
So anyway. I'mma try a new idear. On Fridays. To keep me honest. Give me a bit more motivation. Or some such nonsense. So just bear with me and my nauseating narcissism, but I think that every Friday I will post and give you my mileage, a cool pic that I took while running, and my playlist. The pic might be of me or some weeds or a dead animal or a cool bug or more dead animals or lots of me... because I love me.... and I love hit-and-run carcasses that have been cookin' for a few days. It's all I can do not to stop and poke it with a stick. Ooooh... and ant hills! I'll take pics of me stirrin' up ant hills! That'll be the bomb.
I see lots of stuff when I run. I think about even more stuff. I should probably do something with all that stuff. Even if it's just a lame blog post.
BUT. I figured I'd break the wine bottle with ME. Because there is just nothing better than ME. So. Here's me.
And now. The all important playlist. Because without it, I'd just be flailing aimlessly around my neighborhood singing to myself. Well. I still do that, but at least I can't hear myself sing when the music is on.
The first song is everything. EVERYTHING. I usually keep a song in the "first song" spot for a loooong time. Like, several weeks. It's one of those strange runner superstitions. Everything after #1 is completely random.
Wherever I May Roam- Metallica It's been in the #1 spot for a while now. There might be a change a'comin' soon.
Last Nite- The Strokes This is all Lance's fault. It was on my Ipod, but not my running playlist until Lance got the damn thing stuck in my head. Now go over to Lance's blog and stick something in his head!
Down In It- Nine Inch Nails Because I AM a pretty hate machine. Oh yeah. That's right, bitches.
Wild Child- Enya Hell to the YEAH. You will never meet another soul who can have Metallica and Enya in the same playlist and still be FUCKAWESOME.
Calling You- Blue October Because it's cute and poppy and a bit disturbing if you listen to the lyrics.
Enter Sandman- Metallica It's fucking classic. It makes you wanna sweat. And then kill somebody.
Sigh No More- Mumford and Sons This is the total opposite of wanting to kill somebody.
Congratulations- Blue October and Imogen Heap This'un spent a whole couple of months at my #1 spot before Metallica pushed it out. Blue October rocks and l'il Imogen is about as precious as they come.
Give Me A Sign- Breaking Benjamin This'un is all thanks to my big'un. He listens to all sorts of stuff I've never heard. He's currently trying to convince me that this is actual music- Undead Ahead - Motionless In White.
Into The Ocean- Blue October This is that one song that you know ALL the lyrics to and it's right there in your voice range, so as soon as you get in the car, the windows go down and shit just gets wicked.
Timshel- Mumford and Sons Random. Completely random. Like a redheaded stepchild with a Santa Claus Pez dispenser.
Unbelievable- EMF And WHY the fuck NOT??
Turn The Page- Metallica It really doesn't get better than this. It's one of those random "last songs" that make you keep running because you want to finish the song. Dude. Seriously. It just makes me want to put my shoes back on and do it all over again....
So there. Now GO RUN!

You need to move to WordPress so we can have an ongoing conversation. Just sayin'. :) I wanna 'like' this post, too, but I can't. I will be very interested in your show progress. Rockin' tunes.
ReplyDeletePS- I actually DO have them both on my playlists, but not the one I'm using this week. How about Jackyl and Josh Groban/Susan Boyle? I think you could probably substitute Yanni for those, too....... LOL
I am terrified of Wordpress. True story ;-)
DeleteI have never heard of Jackyl?
I'm still pretty stoked about the Minimuses. I'm working through the breaking-in part still. But they feel great. I did 4.5 miles this morning, but I ate a huge bowl of cereal 20 minutes before and puked my guts out half a mile away from home. Um. Yeah. Gross.
Sheesh. SHOE progress. Show progress not so much...... lol
ReplyDeleteAimee .. that picture of you is great
ReplyDeleteThanks Adam ;-)
DeleteYou're making me wanna train for another halfie. I ran one two years ago. Friggin. AWESOME. I might start running again tomorrow. lol.
ReplyDeleteSome playlist suggestions, if I may. *AHEM*
Burn it to the ground- Nickelback (I haaaate them. But this songs kicks ass. And the rhythm is really good for running.)
Uprising- Muse (I like two maybe three songs by them. The rest are way annoying. This is one is not.)
Indestructible - Disturbed
Death Blooms - Mudvayne (This song holds a special place in my heart because it helped me find my comfortable pace for the very first time when I started running and I crossed the finish line of the halfie to it.)
I have like 50 or 60 songs in my run/cardio playlist, so there's plenty more where that came from, if you like it. :-)
